Description / Instructions / ReviewAbout “METAXA”
When I was a kid, we used to call it “Metaxa Cognac”; it also said so on the label. Later on, the company was disallowed from calling its product “cognac”, as this was determined to be a name of appellation. Thereafter, it was called “Metaxa Brandy”, for quite sometime; but the name did not fit the product to the minds of us, consumers. So, we eventually settled for plain “Metaxa”. If we could not call it “cognac”, which is what it actually is as a type of product, we would only use its brand name. So, there! It comes in 3 basic types, and some variations to appeal to tourists, or to denote special “editions”. The 3 basic variations are “3 stars”, or “5 stars”, or “7 stars”. I personally prefer the “5 star” type, and I prefer it over well known “cognac brands” that are much more expensive. I think it is much smoother, and quite more aromatic, without betraying its true nature. |
