So what is Meritage anyway? It is California's answer to France's "Bordeaux" wines; since the French naming is protected, Californian wine producers have invented their own protected name for essentially the same style of wine (though I'm sure the French don't take this as a very serious threat :P)

Description / Instructions / Review

This was my first experience with Kendall Jackson blends, having only tried their varietals in the past. I was basically happy with it, although I found that the flavors "fought" a bit with each other as the wine changed temperature (i.e. I served it at about 60 degrees and as it heated up I could taste the transition in emphasis from cabernet to merlot). Not necessarily a complaint, but something to note if you're after a more balanced blend.
