Food / Service In case you haven't had japanese curry before, it's not nearly as heavy as the subcontinental curries, and not as spicy as the southeast asian curries. It's hard to describe further than that so yo'll have to try for yourself. I especially recommend the spinach curry and also the croquettes. The sake martinis are pretty tasty (I like the pomegranate), although not particularly strong. Depending on who you are, that may or may not be a good thing. Environment / Ambience There's a single main room with several tables and booths, with a casual pop-japanese decor (e.g., posters of japanese schoolgirls on a bus) and friendly, unobtrusive lighting. It's on the quiet side, and even when it's full you shouldn't have a hard time holding up a conversation at your table.

• Posted by choolander on Wednesday, June 06, 2007 one of my favorite japanese curry houses.. though i frequent the the west LA / Sawtelle location. i would suggest first time visitors try the chicken cutlet curry, as hurry curry is famous for their generously large juicy tender cutlet of chicken. Also, if they don't bring it automatically, ask for the condiment tray with pickled onions, raisins, and radish... this adds some great texture to the curry sauce.
