Honey

californian / american / night club

1733 N Vine St Hollywood, CA 90028 (map it!)

Like everyone else around me, I was at this restaurant because it happened to be near the Pantages theater.

It's hidden on the side of a dance club, and you have to walk into a little alley to get to it.

Food / Service

The food is tasty and well presented, but the menu is a little on the small side; that's not necessarily bad, but people who find that they need a large variety of options in order to get what they want may struggle a bit.

The service was cheerful, if a little disorganized; I don't really blame them though, as the restaurant was totally packed with a surge of theater-goers.

Note: other people seem to have had a more negative experience here (see link), but I think the management may have changed since then; I certainly didn't experience any of the problems they refer to.

Environment / Ambience

It's dark. Seriously. I walked in and couldn't really see what was going on for a couple of minutes. However, once my eyes adjusted I thought it was a cozy little place.

They're going for a trendy / upscale / romantic look, with large plush leather (faux?) booths that curve along the walls, surrounding small dining tables. If that sounds a little unusual, it's because it is :P

When I went it was totally packed, but the waitstaff claim that it's usually not very crowded.
