Leonidas Chocolate Cafebelgian chocolate and coffee49 W. Colorado Boulevard, Pasadena, CA 91105 (map it!)If you know a little ancient history (or, more likely, have seen the movie "300"), you know that Leonidas was a Spartan king who fought the Persians. It turns out that Leonidas is also a Belgian chocolate company, whose seemingly inappropriate naming continues to mystify me.
In any case, Leonidas has put together a "chocolate cafe", where you can get (you guessed it) chocolates and coffee. [0 / 0 found this useful , viewed 762 times]

Food / ServiceThey have a fairly large collection of fresh chocolates on display; if you're a real chocolate afficionado, it might not be "exotic" enough for you, but they're a mainstream operation so that's not too surprising.
They serve a couple of very good chocolate drinks, including a "mexican hot chocolate" which is worth trying. They also serve coffee in all its various forms (including chocolate flavored ones). Environment / AmbienceIt's an oddly architected shop; as you enter from the street, there's a little alcove to the left with some seating, and then a recessed main room with the cashier and chocolate counter.
I think most of their customers order to go, but if you do stay it's a fun little spot to watch people out and about in old town (and there's free wifi to keep you entertained / productive while you do it) |
